Snow Canyon is named after early Mormon settlers Lorenzo and Erastus Snow. It was designated as a Utah State Park in 1958. The Park famous for the beautiful sandstone rock formations, cinder cones, lava tubes, and sand dunes.
Cathedral Gorge State Park. The park sits at an elevation of 4,800 feet (1,500 m) above sea level.
The richly colored canyons are remnants of an ancient lakebed. Over centuries, the lake began to gradually drains. Rainwater and melting snow carved rivulets in the soft siltstone and clay shale, splitting tiny cracks and fissures into larger and larger gullies and canyons.
