Snow Canyon is named after early Mormon settlers Lorenzo and Erastus Snow. It was designated as a Utah State Park in 1958. The Park famous for the beautiful sandstone rock formations, cinder cones, lava tubes, and sand dunes.

Cathedral Gorge State Park. The park sits at an elevation of 4,800 feet (1,500 m) above sea level.

The richly colored canyons are remnants of an ancient lakebed. Over centuries, the lake began to gradually drains. Rainwater and melting snow carved rivulets in the soft siltstone and clay shale, splitting tiny cracks and fissures into larger and larger gullies and canyons.

Hoover Dam

Hoover Dam,once known as Boulder Dam,is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River,on the border between the U.S.states of Arizona and Nevada.

It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression and was dedicated

on Sept.30,1935 by President Franklin D.Roosevelt.

A total of 3,250,000 cubic yards (2,480,000 m3) of concrete was used in the dam before concrete pouring ceased on May 29,1935.In addition 1,110,000 cubic yards (850,000 m3)

were used in the power plant and other works.

Toadstool Hoodoos/Page/Horseshoe Band/Antelope Canyon

Antelope Canyon was formed by erosion of Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to other sub-aerial processes.

The Horseshoe Bend overlook is 4,200 feet above sea level and the Colorado River is at 3,200 feet above sea level making it a 1,000 feet drop. The Toadstool Hoodoos are formed by differential weathering.Usually this happens once a hard capstone settles on a softer layer of rock. The softer rock is gradually worn away around the capstone, but the rock beneath the capstone is protected.This leaves the characteristic mushroom-shaped columns, each with a personality of its own.
